Program Leader

Program Leader Greenway Chaplin Community Centre - Cambridge, ON $12 - $14 an hour
Position: Program Leader Responsible To: Program Coordinator Function: Delivery of the Greenway Chaplin Community Centre Programs, including the planning, implementation and record keeping related to the programs Hours: 12-30 hours/ week Contract Term: Part Time Contract (Sept-Dec 2017) - 3 month probation with possible renewal for winter and spring 2018. Pay: $12-$14/hour Schedule: Monday-Friday afternoons/evenings with the option of Saturday morning programs Major Duties include but are not limited to:  Programming:
  • Delivery of the After-School program for grade 1-6 with up to 30 participants in accordance with the programs guidelines as outlined by funders and supervisors
  • Plan and deliver youth drop-in program for Jr and Sr High Students and ensure programming is appropriate to respond to the needs and ages of the participants
  • Lead planning and delivery of programs ensuring they remain in accordance with all Centre’s policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Planning, Delivery and Prepping of all other programs
  • Responsible for attending all centre staff meetings, mandatory trainings and events
  • Involvement with advertisement and promotion of programs
Administration
  • Some report writing, typing and filing. Maintain accurate and updated files including attendance, budgets, indicators and outcomes
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Degree or Diploma in child/youth related field
  • Minimum one year experience working with children and youth
  • Behaviour management and facilitation skills
  • Program development, implementation and evaluation experience, problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills
  • Experience working with a diverse population, volunteers and community partners
  • Valid class G driver’s license and access to own transportation
  • First Aid and CPR-C certification
  • High Five: Principals of Health Childhood Development certificate
  • Food Handling certificate an asset
  • Self-directed team player who can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Able to work in a fast pace environment
  • Proficient with Office programs

Volunteer Coordinator (28 hours/week at $16.50/hour)

REPORTS TO:              Executive Director FUNCTION:                 To coordinate and oversee the continued development of the Volunteer Program at Greenway-Chaplin Community Centre. HOURS:                       28/week HOURLY RATE:           $16.50   Job Responsibilities:
  • Recruit volunteers from the neighbourhood and community for administrative, recreation, summer camp and special event roles, based on volunteer requests from staff.
  • Interview, screen, place, orient, train, supervise, and evaluate volunteers based on skills, experience, and interests.
  • Track supervision, evaluation of volunteers and create reference letters to confirm hours and tasks, as requested.
  • Implement the ongoing evaluation process of the Volunteer Program with volunteer input, and to make changes as required.
  • Pursue the development and maintenance of community partnerships related to recruitment and further development of volunteers (local high schools, Conestoga College, Lutherwood etc).
  • Collect and maintain volunteer information, including application form, reference checks, completed volunteer hours and training records, etc.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to volunteers and Greenway-Chaplin Staff as needed.
  • Provide ongoing recognition for volunteers within the budget.
  Administration:
  • Collect and produce monthly volunteer statistics as outlined by the Executive Director, and maintain the Charity Republic database for this purpose.
  • Educate and support the staff in volunteer development through sharing of resources and training.
  • Maintain volunteer resource materials (volunteer handbook, volunteer position descriptions etc.).
  • Participate in external and internal training sessions.
  Qualifications and Experience:
  • Post-Secondary Education in related field, certification in Volunteer Management preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in managing volunteers of all ages.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR-C training and a clear Police Vulnerable Sector check.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office Suite, databases, social media).
