Thank you Greenway Volunteers! You help build confidence, competence, connections and community!
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 12.7 million volunteers. Greenway-Chaplin joins Volunteer Canada and Investors Group April 15-21, 2018 to recognize the contributions of volunteers in our communities. Happy National Volunteer Week
Thank you to all of our volunteers for dedicating their time and energy to volunteering! Without you we would not have been able to accomplish as much as we did in the past year. Check out this story from our volunteer, Destini! "I am a Social Service Worker student from Conestoga College. I first started my placement at Greenway-Chaplin Community Centre in September. Placement at Greenway-Chaplin has been an awesome experience for me as I have been able to work with outstanding individuals, build new skills, and engage with people in the community. I have spent most of my time volunteering at programs, and helping around the office. At first, I was a little shy and would stay to myself. However, Greenway-Chaplin really helped me develop my confidence by facilitating games and activities, taking on responsibility, and going to community events. My biggest achievement has been planning and running Glam Girls. I hope that I can continue to be a part of the community here at Greenway-Chaplin.
Happy National Volunteer Week
Happy National Volunteer Week to all of our amazing volunteers! Thank you for all of your hard work! Check out this story from one of our volunteers, Andrea! "I began volunteering at Greenway-Chaplin Community Centre in September 2016. I decided to volunteer at Greenway-Chaplin because my son was attending many of Greenway’s programs and he loved the people and environment there. I began and am currently still volunteering as a receptionist, but I also volunteer at special events such as Neighbourhood Clean-Up Day and school dances. I also get the opportunity to train future reception volunteers which is a fun experience and allows me to meet new people. My biggest achievement from volunteering at Greenway-Chaplin is being able to create my own club, based off of my talent, called the Crochet Club. At Crochet Club, anyone can drop by Greenway-Chaplin and learn how to crochet from myself or they can come and have a friendly visit with the attendees. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering at Greenway-Chaplin because I get to meet tons of new people, the staff are very friendly and I get to showcase my talents. I will continue to volunteer for many more years to come."
Happy National Volunteer's Week
Happy National Volunteer week to all of our volunteers! We are to thankful for all of our volunteers. Check out this story from one of our volunteers, Ryan! "I began volunteering at the end of last summer, I was a camper there before and the camp was really fun. When I first started I really didn’t know what I was going to do but the more that I helped around with things, the more I didn’t feel scared about being in front of all the kids. When I volunteered this March break it was amazing to see all the kids and some of my friends that I only see during summer. My biggest achievement was this March break when we were all playing games and you had to close your eyes and try to hear if someone was trying to take a bottle full of beads from in between your legs. When I went up Joey told all the kids to go outside the gym and he was recording all of it, it was just me standing in the gym by myself and Joey throwing things at me. Just seeing all the kids come in laughing and smiling was my biggest achievement. My experience was amazing and I really want to go back, I really like working for kids and making them smile and laugh. Even when I’m not volunteering the experience from it helps me with kids around school and my rock climbing gym. I really enjoy volunteering and can’t wait for the summer to come around. "
